Our Story

Established in 1992, URBAN VERBUNK has been passionately reviving traditional Hungarian folk dance in today’s contemporary world. Our unique blend of tradition and modernity has dazzled audiences around the globe, making us a prominent player in Hungarian folk dance.

Our artistic director, Moussa Ahmed, one of the most recognized young dance artists in Hungary, has represented his Hungarian culture by taking part in a wide range of events, from the stage of Lincoln Center in New York to the Rio Olympics, as well as the 70th birthday of Prince Charles. His work is marked by numerous professional awards and several successful record attempts, such as the World’s Fastest Folk Dancer Award.

Our latest production, the “Don’t Lie to the Planet Show”, spotlights the urgent global social issues of our era. This performance uses the power of dance to draw attention to the serious global ecological problems of the modern era. The show features a distinctive dance style, unparalleled globally. This fusion appeals to an international audience, merging traditional elements of folk dance along classical music masterpieces, top pop artists, and striking visual elements to deliver a unique cinematic entertainment experience.

URBAN VERBUNK is regularly sought out by the biggest names of the Hungarian Entertainment Industry for collaborations and joint projects. We have participated in the most prestigious national and international forums and sports events, including the 2020 European Football Championship, commissioned by UEFA.
